Special City Council Meeting Minutes February 11, 2021

Minutes of Special City Council Meeting held on Thursday, February 11, 2021, at 85 South State Street, City of Fairview, County of Sanpete, State of Utah. 

Mayor Pro Tempore Cliff Wheeler called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. City Council members present were Brad Welch, Matt Sorensen, Mike Mackay, and Casey Anderson. City employees present were Steve Gray and Jan Anderson along with citizens Kim Cooley and Tyler Faddis from Jones and Demille Engineering. Sanpete Messenger Rhett Wilkinson was present via bridge call.

The purpose of the meeting was to fill Mayor vacancy. The invocation was offered by Councilman Matt Sorensen.

Three people put their name in to be considered to fill the mayor vacancy. They were Kim Cooley, Monica Hendry and Cliff Wheeler. Monica had other obligations and was unable to attend. A vote was held, the voting went as follows: Cliff Wheeler received 5 votes and Kim Cooley 0 votes. The Council was appreciative of Kim and his willingness to serve. A vacancy in the Council will now need to be filled. Notice will go out to fill the vacancy, the remaining term will end December 31, 2021.  

Mayor Cliff Wheeler was then sworn into office.

Meeting adjourned at 7:13 p.m. by motion from Councilman Mike MacKay with the second by Councilman Brad Welch. Motion carried in favor of.
