Buildings and Grounds / Parks and Rec Manager 

Position Overview:
Fairview City is currently seeking a versatile and skilled individual to fulfill the role of Buildings and Grounds / Parks and Recreation Manager. This unique position combines the responsibilities of managing city-owned buildings and grounds with planning and participating in our city’s sporting programs. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the city’s infrastructure, recreation programs, and public spaces.

Responsibilities:

1. Grounds Management: Supervise and coordinate the maintenance of city parks, public spaces such as the dance hall and senior citizen’s center, and outdoor facilities.
2. Team Leadership: Manage and lead maintenance staff, providing guidance and support.
3. Recreation Management: Supervise and participate in planning and executing city sporting events and programs. 
4. Heavy Machinery Operation: Operate heavy machinery and equipment as required for maintenance and construction projects in accordance to public works needs. This may include, but is not limited to, riding lawnmowers, backhoes, snowplows, etc.
5. General Maintenance: Perform hands-on labor tasks related to public works, such as street and sidewalk maintenance.
6. Budget Management: Assist in developing and managing budgets for maintenance and improvement projects.
7. Collaboration: Work closely with other city departments and officials to address community needs and enhance public spaces.

Qualifications:

1. Proven experience in grounds and building maintenance.
2. Knowledge of sports rules and regulations, willingness to plan and participate in sporting programs. 
3. Ability to operate heavy machinery and equipment.
4. Familiarity with or willingness to learn about sprinkler system setup and management. 
5. Excellent organizational and communication skills.
6. Willingness to perform hands-on labor tasks and learn new skills as needed.
7. Basic understanding of safety protocols in a construction or labor environment. 
8. Be able to pass a standard background check and drug test.
